ISLAMABAD: Domestic RLNG consumers may face significantly inflated gas bills this month following a sharp increase in RLNG prices, driven by higher distribution costs and geopolitical supply disruptions. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced the new tariff structure of RLNG for both gas companies-Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited and Sui Southern Gas Company.
SNGPL’s transmission costs have risen to USD15.6237 per MMBtu, with the final consumer distribution price hitting USD16.9847 per MMBtu. Whereas, SSGCL’s transmission costs are set at USD14.0931 per MMBtu, resulting in a consumer supply price of USD16.0426 per MMBtu.
Industry sources note that OGRA did not release a price notification for April, as one cargo arrived late in the month and long-term contract deliveries from Qatar were suspended due to the US-Iran conflict. The current higher rates are calculated based on only four imported LNG cargoes, compared to previous lower averages that relied heavily on cheaper, long-term contract shipments.
The price for March was lower with the average sale price without GST USD12.4913 for SNGPL’s transmission and USD13.5516 per mmbtu for distribution stage. For SSGC transmission was fixed at USD11.0169 per mmbtu and distribution @ USD12.5354 per mmbtu. That price was based at 2 cargoes arrived under long term contracts in March.
