That Pakistan has been working day in, day out to break the US-Iran impasse is a fact that has found its best reflections from interior minister Mohsin Naqvi’s travel to Iran for second time in a week. He has met, among others, the Iranian president and the head of IRGC. According to media reports, Naqvi landed in Tehran with a “crucial message” for the Iranian leadership.
Needless to say, there exist some legitimate fears that the ceasefire could unravel if the negotiations between Iran and US remained at a standstill. There also exists cautious optimism that the ceasefire is still holding. Hence the need for breaking this dangerous impasse as early as possible.
Both US and Iran are required to show flexibility to break diplomatic stalemate. Making concessions will not project weakness. Be that as it may, the test ahead is whether it will be a truce or a lasting peace. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the US-Iran conflict ends soon.
