Operation ‘Ghazab-lil-Haq’ will continue: PM Shehbaz

  • Says Pakistan remains fully committed to eradicating terrorism and ensuring peace, stability, and national progress through a people-centric approach
Published Updated

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Operation “Ghazab-lil-Haq” against “Afghan Taliban-based terrorist proxies” would continue with full resolve, while simultaneously underscoring the importance of military diplomacy and regional defence cooperation as part of Pakistan’s broader strategy for peace, stability and counterterrorism.

Addressing faculty members and student officers, including officers from friendly countries, at the Command and Staff College in Quetta, the prime minister said Pakistan was continuing operations to defend innocent citizens and target terrorist hideouts and support infrastructure, while also emerging as a “net regional stabiliser” through military cooperation and strategic engagement.

The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity “at all costs” against any misadventure, while praising the professionalism, operational preparedness and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in safeguarding national security and ensuring peace and stability.

Referring to “Marka-e-Haq,” Prime Minister Shehbaz paid tribute to what he described as the Pakistan Armed Forces’ “historic victory” under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He said Pakistan had demonstrated “responsible conduct and escalation control” in response to India’s “unprovoked hubristic aggression,” adding that the country’s “mature, prudent and just stance” had also been acknowledged by the international community.

The premier also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.

Highlighting the presence of officers from friendly countries at the institution, the prime minister underscored the significance of military diplomacy and cooperation in strengthening regional peace and stability, saying Pakistan had made important strides as a “net regional stabiliser” contributing towards peace, stability and progression in the region and beyond.

He also paid tribute to the martyrs and acknowledged the unwavering commitment of the armed forces in defence of the country.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the premier was accompanied by the federal ministers for defence, interior and information, as well as the chief minister of Balochistan. Upon arrival at the Command and Staff College, he was received by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff.

Separately, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the field marshal also addressed student officers and faculty members during his visit to Quetta Garrison, where he highlighted the rapidly transforming character of modern warfare and stressed the importance of emerging technologies, multi-domain operations and tri-services synergy.

The army chief advised officers to continuously train themselves and their troops to effectively respond to future battlefield challenges while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, preparedness and operational excellence.

Later, during his interaction with officers and troops deployed in Balochistan, the field marshal reaffirmed that the armed forces, with the steadfast support of the people, remained fully committed to eradicating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

He said Pakistan’s “destined rise” could not be obstructed through propaganda, fake news or externally sponsored terrorism, asserting that hostile forces attempting to derail the country’s progress through proxies and propaganda would ultimately fail due to the resilience of the state and unity of its people.

Field Marshal Asim Munir also stressed that sustainable peace and long-term stability in Balochistan depended upon a people-centric approach, inclusive development and improved governance alongside security measures. He appreciated the efforts of the Balochistan government aimed at socio-economic uplift and strengthening the relationship between the state and the people.

The ISPR added that the field marshal praised the morale, operational readiness and professionalism of troops deployed in the province for maintaining peace, stability and the writ of the state in Balochistan.
