LAHORE: Political leaders of the different parties condemned shoe throwing on former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. The incident took place at Jamia Naeemia.

Nawaz Sharif has arrived at Jamia to address a ceremony marking the death anniversary of Mufti Mohammad Hussain Naeemi.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident terming the Naeemia incident was shameful.

He said this trend was devastating for the country and the nation, however, it was rapturous that all politicians had condemned it.

The chief minister said that it was our responsibility to move Pakistan forward in the form of a democratic and courteous society.

Reacting to the incident, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that such attacks were made with some evil design.

"Political or non-political opponents could be involved in these attacks," he added.

PPP Punjab president Qamar Zaman Kaira said the culture of lack of tolerance should not be promoted.

He said that it was very unethical act and no one should be allowed to express his feelings in this way.

Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq also denounced the incident and said that it was an unacceptable incident as Pakistani culture did not allow such intolerance.

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned the incident of throwing shoe at Nawaz Sharif and termed it ugly trend threatening the respect and security of the political leaders in Pakistan.

The PPP Chairman said that his Party was against the use of such disrespectful tactics against opponents.

Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf also condemned the unethical act of shoe throwing at former Prime Minister.

President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan has strongly condemned shoe throwing at former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Jamia Naeemia.

He said shoe throwing is an abhor able act and such should be discouraged en bloc by all political parties. The unscrupulous elements involved in such unethical acts should be awarded exemplary punishment.
