Pakistan awaits Iran’s formal confirmation for Islamabad peace talks: information minister
- Says decision is critical before two-week ceasefire ends at 4:50 a.m. PST on April 22
Pakistan is still awaiting Iran’s formal confirmation regarding its delegation for the Islamabad peace talks, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Tuesday, as diplomatic efforts continue to preserve the ceasefire and move the process forward.
Tarar said Pakistan, as a mediator, remains in constant contact with the Iranian side and is pursuing dialogue and diplomacy. He said Iran’s decision to participate in the talks before the two-week ceasefire ends at 4:50 a.m. PST on April 22 is of critical importance.
He added that Pakistan has made sustained efforts to convince the Iranian leadership to take part in the second round of negotiations.

Officials noted that these efforts are continuing amid mixed signals from Washington, where calls for dialogue have been accompanied by threats, raising concerns over the durability of the ceasefire and prospects for engagement.
Separately, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and discussed the latest regional developments.
Both sides stressed the importance of dialogue and engagement for lasting peace and stability, while the Saudi foreign minister reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and agreed to remain in close contact.
