Iran command says has closed Hormuz again over US blockade
- Says Washington broke promise by continuing its naval blockade of ships sailing to and from Iran
TEHRAN: Iran’s central military command announced on Saturday it would resume “strict management” of the Strait of Hormuz, reversing a decision to unblock the strategic channel as part of negotiations with Washington.
In a statement shared on state television, the headquarters said Washington had broken a promise by continuing its naval blockade of ships sailing to and from Iran’s ports.

Until the United States restores freedom of movement for all vessels visiting Iran, “the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain strictly controlled,” the statement said.
The development comes a day after US President Donald Trump said that the naval blockade on Iran will “remain in full force” until a deal with Tehran is struck.
“The Strait of Hormuz is completely open and ready for business and full passage, but the naval blockade will remain in full force and effect as it pertains to Iran, only, until such time as our transaction with Iran is 100% complete,” he wrote on Truth Social in all caps on Friday, after Iran said the Strait of Hormuz was open to all vessels following a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
