ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/ FM) Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee to oversee fuel subsidy and austerity measures.
The Petroleum Minister apprised the participants about the existing fuel supplies and stock position vis-à-vis the consumption. He also shared the progress made so far to source fuels from other regions that are not affected by the war in the Middle East.
DPM/FM stressed the need to implement the Prime Minister’s austerity measures in a true spirit.
The meeting was also apprised about progress on the fuel subsidy program. DPM/FM directed that payments must first be tracked to ameliorate the burden for the common man.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of IT, Federal Secretaries of Petroleum, Information Technology, and Telecom, all four Provincial Chief Secretaries, and other relevant stakeholders. Chief Secretaries of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan were also present.
