Islamabad talks: Visa-on-arrival facility limited to participating nationals

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office on Friday said the visa-on-arrival facility for the upcoming “Islamabad Talks” will be limited to delegates and journalists from participating nations, namely the United States and Iran.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the measure, which will be in effect for the duration of the talks, does not extend to third-country nationals.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that delegates and journalists from the participating nations would be granted visas on arrival.

“Pakistan welcomes all delegates, including journalists from participating nations, travelling in relation to Islamabad Talks 2026,” Dar said in a post on X.

“To this end, all airlines are requested to permit boarding to all such individuals without a visa. Immigration authorities in Pakistan will issue them a visa on arrival.”

The “Islamabad Talks” are expected to be a significant diplomatic engagement, with senior leaders from the US and Iran arriving for high-stakes negotiations following a six-week conflict that has left thousands dead and strained the global economy.
