LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bokhari, reiterated the Punjab government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of journalists across the province, emphasizing that the government treats all media personnel equally, regardless of whether they represent Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur or Lahore.
She was talking to a delegation of the Bahawalpur Press Club, led by President Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem at her office on Thursday.
During the session, the delegation briefed the information minister on the challenges faced by the journalistic community in the region.
Addressing the delegation, Azma Bokhari stated, “The doors of my office are always open for all journalists.” She said, “It is our resolve that journalists in South Punjab should receive the same facilities and support as their counterparts in Central Punjab, and the government is actively working toward this goal.”
Bokhari further commended the Bahawalpur Press Club for its consistent tradition of holding annual elections, describing it as a commendable democratic practice. She highlighted that press clubs serve as the vital bedrock and guardians of the fundamental rights of journalists.
