25 killed, dozens injured as heavy rains hit Khyber Pakhtuknhwa
- PDMA says wet spell to continue till April 4
At least 25 people have been killed and dozens injured in rain-related incidents in Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since March 25, authorities said Thursday.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported widespread damage, with 77 houses affected, including 33 destroyed. The worst-hit districts include Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Karak.
Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 teams have been deployed to the affected regions, providing emergency assistance, including medical aid and temporary shelter to displaced families. Efforts are ongoing to clear debris and restore access to remote areas cut off by the rains.
The PDMA has issued alerts warning of continued rainfall in parts of the province, with forecasts indicating that the wet spell may persist until April 4.
Strong winds and rains under westerly weather continue across Pakistan. Thunderstorms have been reported across Balochistan as well as parts of Sindh, including Karachi.
According to PDMA Balochistan, so far 7 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents.
