Fact check: Afghan Taliban’s fake claims on barbs removal along Pak-Afghan border
- Calls such claims completely fabricated and misleading
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has dismissed claims made by the Afghan Taliban regime and certain Indian RAW outlets regarding the supposed removal of barbed wire along the Pak-Afghan border, calling them completely fabricated and misleading.
According to the Ministry, the Pak-Afghan border stretches over 2,640 kilometers of challenging terrain, which is securely managed by Pakistan’s security forces.
The Taliban regime, however, continues to collaborate with terrorists, smugglers, and criminal gangs to infiltrate the region.
Fabricated claims and propaganda
The ministry highlighted that all videos shared by Taliban outlets are part of a deliberate campaign to spread misinformation.
These clips, often created to show a brief moment of activity, are then quickly removed, underscoring the Taliban’s reliance on propaganda tactics.
These staged claims are being pushed with the aim of misleading the public, while the reality remains far from their narrative.
Border security fully intact
Contrary to the claims of dismantling border defenses, the Ministry emphasized that the Pak-Afghan border fence remains intact.
Any attempt to breach it is met with swift and disproportionate responses from Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies.
Frustration behind lies
The Taliban’s recent fabricated claims stem from frustration following the destruction of over 250 border posts and the capture of several positions by Pakistan’s forces under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.
With their positions weakened, the Taliban resort to falsehoods to appease their domestic audience.
History of false claims
The Ministry pointed out that the Taliban, alongside their Indian allies, is notorious for making baseless claims, ranging from capturing Pakistani military assets to staging fake drone strikes.
These repeated falsehoods have severely damaged the credibility of both the Afghan Taliban and their media outlets on the international stage.
The Ministry concludes that such claims from the Afghan Taliban regime and their supporters are part of a well-established pattern of lies and deceit.
It stresses that these fake narratives cannot be trusted, and the truth will always emerge victorious over such falsehoods.
Fact-check verdict: False.
The Pak-Afghan border remains fully secured, and the Taliban’s claims are unsubstantiated.
