Gas supply disrupted in parts of Balochistan after pipeline sabotage: SSGC

  • Company says 18-inch diameter gas pipeline was damaged in a blast in Quetta
Published March 30, 2026 Updated March 30, 2026 10:20pm

Gas supply to several areas of Balochistan has been disrupted following a suspected sabotage incident that caused a rupture in a major pipeline near Quetta, according to a statement issued by Sui Southern Gas Company Limited on Monday.

The company said an 18-inch diameter gas pipeline was damaged in a blast at Akhtarabad Western Bypass in Quetta, reportedly carried out by unidentified individuals. The explosion severely damaged a valve assembly, leading to suspension of gas supply.

As a result, gas supply has been interrupted in multiple areas including Mastung, Kalat, Pishin, Kuchlak, and Ziarat, as well as parts of Quetta such as Hazara Town, Hazarganji, Kharotabad, Pashtun Bagh, Khaizi and Nohsar.

Following the incident, security agencies, including the Bomb Disposal Squad, conducted a comprehensive sweep of the site to rule out the presence of any additional explosive devices. After clearance, SSGC said its technical teams are scheduled to begin repair work from the morning of March 31.

The company said it is making all-out efforts to restore gas supply at the earliest and will keep consumers updated on further developments.

SSGC also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to consumers.
