Dar arrives at Riyadh

Published Updated

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday to participate in the Consultative Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Ministers from Arab and Islamic countries for a swift resolution to the conflict in the Middle East in the wake of US-Israel strikes on Iran.

The much-anticipated huddle is hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Upon his arrival, Ishaq Dar was received by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Farooq, along with senior officials from the Saudi Foreign Ministry.

According to a Foreign Office (FO) statement, during the two-day visit, taking place from March 18–19 at the invitation of the Saudi Foreign Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister will engage in discussions on pressing regional developments.

During the meeting, he is expected to reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of all brotherly nations in the region. During the meeting, Pakistan will also call for an immediate halt to attacks on their territories, stressing the urgency of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve conflicts.

Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, Ishaq Dar will underscore Islamabad’s commitment to playing a constructive role in addressing the grave security challenges confronting the region.

Separately, Senator Dar held a telephonic conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan last evening. Both leaders expressed deep concern over escalating tensions and emphasized the need for urgent de-escalation. Senator Dar reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path to peace and stability in the region.
