ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari on Wednesday called for urgent global intervention to stop the war against Iran, warning of economic fallout and growing instability in the region and beyond.
Speaking on the Middle East’s situation, Bukhari said that Iran remains “a Muslim neighbouring country,” underscoring the importance of maintaining strong and respectful ties. He said that Pakistan’s leadership is actively working to promote a ceasefire and restore normal conditions in the region.
Bukhari said the people of Iran remain steadfast in their stance despite mounting pressure, adding that aggression against Iran has negatively impacted the global economy.
He expressed concern over the future of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), suggesting the alliance appears to be facing increasing uncertainty. He further claimed that the United States is becoming isolated within the international community, with its relations with NATO allies and other countries no longer as strong as before.
Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic posture, Bukhari said the country has adopted a cautious and balanced approach in the ongoing tensions involving Israel, the United States, and Iran. He reiterated that Iran remains a Muslim neighboring country, emphasizing the importance of maintaining regional ties.
He said that Pakistan’s leadership is actively working toward a ceasefire and the restoration of normalcy in the region, stressing that peace remains a top priority.
Bukhari also urged the international community to play a more proactive role in resolving the crisis. He concluded by urging leaders, including U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, to reassess their policies and actions in view of the current crisis.
