RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed five terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted after receiving information about the presence of militants belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna al Khwarij in the area.

During the operation, security forces effectively engaged the militants’ hideout. After an intense exchange of fire, five militants were killed.

The ISPR said that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the slain militants, who were involved in several terrorist activities in the area.

It further said that sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored kharji found in the area, as the relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ (as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
