PESHAWAR: Mixed trend in Prices of essential food commodities, like cooking oil/ghee, flour, sugar, vegetable, chicken/live meat and others witnessed in the retail market here.
Prices of live chicken/meat and products remained high as no change was registered in the retail market in previous week as compared to preceding week, according to a weekly survey carried out by Business Recorder here on Sunday. Similarly, prices of farm eggs remained unchanged in the retail market.
Prices of cow/buffalo and mutton beef are still sky-high. Butchers were squeezing consumers with self-imposed prices amid unchecked by authorities concerned, the buyers complained. A kilogram of cow meat without bone was available at Rs1350 and cow meat with bone at Rs1500 per kilogramme against the official rates of Rs900 per kilogramme announced by local authorities concerned. Mutton beef was being sold from Rs 2500 to Rs 3000 per kg in the open market, the survey added.
A one kilogramme sugar was dropped at Rs160 from Rs 170 per kilogramme, the survey said.
According to the survey, flour prices also decreased as a 20-kg bag was being sold at Rs 2700 against the price of 2900-3000. However, the price of an 80-kg bag remained unchanged as available at Rs 12,500 and Rs13000 per sac in the wholesale market, the survey said. Likewise, a sharp fall in prices of vegetables witnessed, the survey noted. A one kilogramme tomato is being sold at Rs50 against the price of Rs100 per kilogramme in the previous week as compared to preceding week. Onion was being sold at Rs70 against the price Rs80 per kg in previous week as compared to the preceding week in the retail market whereas ginger was available at Rs 600 and garlic was at Rs300-400/kg in the retail market, the survey added. Green chilli was being sold at Rs80 per kg, the survey said. Lemon is being sold at Rs100 per kilogramme.
