Six terrorists were killed during a joint operation conducted by the police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Lachi Tehsil of Kohat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Aaj News reported.

A significant cache of heavy weaponry was also recovered from the scene.

District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat Shahbaz Elahi said the operation was launched based on credible intelligence reports within the jurisdiction of the Lachi police station. As the joint teams commenced the search and strike operation, the hidden terrorists opened fire on the security forces.

In the ensuing intense exchange of fire, the security forces retaliated effectively, resulting in the death of six terrorists.

Officials confirmed that the neutralised terrorists were wanted for their involvement in various attacks on security forces and multiple acts of sabotage.

DPO Elahi stated that the joint search operation is still underway in the area to eliminate any further potential threats.

Authorities have also intensified efforts to track down and apprehend the facilitators of these terrorists in the surrounding region.

At least six terrorists were killed during an operation carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Department on March 13 in Shagai area of the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The operation took place after a police vehicle was targeted by an explosion on Friday near the Rasul Khel check post in Lakki Marwat, resulting in the martyrdom of six personnel, including a Station House Officer (SHO), while one other cop was injured.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the CTD for their successful operation against terrorists in the Lachi area.

The prime minister lauded the police and CTD for their professionalism in neutralising six terrorists during the operation.

He remarked that the KP Police and CTD are playing the role of a vanguard in the war against terrorism.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to the complete eradication of all forms of terrorism from the country,” the PM reaffirmed.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also hailed the successful operation against the Kharijis in Lachi, Kohat.

The interior minister saluted the “brave sons” of the police and CTD for sending six terrorists of Fitna al-Khawarij to hell.

He praised the professional expertise of the KP Police and CTD, stating, “We are proud of our courageous personnel.”

Naqvi added that the ongoing actions of the police and CTD are highly commendable for establishing lasting peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
