Broad losses drag Sri Lankan shares lower

Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Thursday, dragged by losses across sectors.

The CSE All Share index settled down 1.63% at 21,988.12.

Mercantile Shipping and Kerner Haus Global were the top percentage losers on the CSE All Share index, falling20.8% and 16.5%, respectively.

Trading volume on the CSE All Share index fell to 139.7 million shares from 219.9 million in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover eased to 4.11 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($13.22 million) from 4.32 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net buyers, purchasing stocks worth 151.9 million rupees, while domestic investors were net sellers, offloading shares worth 3.99 billion rupees, the data showed.
