LAHORE: The Water and Sanitation Agency Lahore have taken measures for uninterrupted water supply throughout the city during Sehri and Iftar times in Ramadan.
In this connection, WASA Lahore MD Ghufran Ahmed chaired a meeting on Saturday to discuss the arrangements for Ramazan 2026. All Directors of Operations participated in this meeting, which aimed to devise a comprehensive strategy to ensure the best facilities for citizens during the holy month. On this occasion, he directed that an uninterrupted water supply be maintained throughout the city during Sehri and Iftar times in Ramazan. He also emphasised that sewerage and drainage systems should remain fully operational at all times. All lorry hydrants and fire hydrants will be kept functional, and any technical issues in tube wells and disposal stations will be addressed immediately, he added.
The meeting instructed that special cleaning of sewer lines around mosques should be prioritised, along with the desilting and repair of manhole covers. To ensure public safety, it was ordered that open manholes be covered immediately and that warning signs, barricades, and reflective tapes be installed at excavation sites. Additionally, the WASA Lahore MD directed that emergency complaint centres at all town offices remain operational 24 hours a day, with zero tolerance for negligence. “Providing the best facilities to the public during Ramazan is WASA’s top priority; thus, special teams will be on alert during Sehri, Iftar, and Taraweeh times in every sub-division to promptly address any complaints related to water and sewage,” he added.
The meeting also set the working hours for tube well operations during Ramazan 2026, ensuring that water supply is available throughout the city during the following four periods: 3:15 am to 5:30 am, 8:00 am to 10:00 am, 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, and 5:00 pm to 8:45 pm.
