LAHORE: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Friday approved 15 development schemes across multiple sectors with a total estimated cost of over Rs70 billion.

The 64th meeting of the PDWP was chaired by Chairman Planning & Development (P&D) Board Dr Naeem Rauf at the P&D Board. The forum reviewed and cleared projects relating to road infrastructure, municipal development and agriculture.

Among the approved schemes was the construction of Ring Road Narowal (PC-II) at an estimated cost of Rs26 million. The forum also sanctioned the rehabilitation and improvement of Jaranwala–Nankana Road up to the district boundary (Phase-I) costing Rs1.1 billion.

Another major infrastructure project approved was the dualisation of the metalled road from Muzaffargarh to Alipur Head Punjand Tranda Muhammad Pannah Road up to the district boundary Muzaffargarh (Phase-I) with an estimated cost of Rs3.4 billion. In addition, Rs2.7 billion was approved for land acquisition and shifting of utilities for the same Muzaffargarh road project. The rehabilitation of Sarai Chowk to Arra Rawal Road (revised) was also cleared at a cost of Rs2.3 billion.

A significant allocation of Rs60 billion was approved for the creation of model villages (Misali Gaon) through improved municipal services in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Gujrat, Multan, DG Khan, Sargodha, Bahawalpur and Sahiwal.

Besides development schemes, the PDWP approved a number of position papers, including the productivity enhancement in Mango Sector of Punjab (2025-26 to 2027-28) for the creation of posts and purchase of vehicles, the establishment of Horticulture Research Center Pattoki (2025-26 to 2027-28) for procurement of vehicles, and the CM Punjab initiative for provision of X-ray and surgical facilities at district level for animal health and welfare which also includes procurement of vehicles.

Secretary P&D Board Rafaqat Ali, Chief Economist Imtiaz Ahmad, members of the P&D Board and representatives of the relevant departments participated in the meeting.
