BEIJING: Taiwan’s Foxconn has begun operations at an electric vehicle research and development centre in the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou, the local government said on Thursday.
The complex, located next to automaker BYD’s Zhengzhou factory, will focus on next-generation electric and electrical architecture as well as smart driving technology, the Henan provincial government said on its Wechat account, citing Li Guangyao, general manager of a Henan-based Foxconn subsidiary.
The new centre began operations on Wednesday and is set to cut the production cycle for new vehicle models to 24 months, Li said.
