LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) President Pir Ijaz Ahmed Hashmi has admired services of outgoing Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani.
Talking to a delegation of political workers here on Saturday, he said that people of Pakistan, specially political workers, would remember the services and role of Raza Rabbani for the rule of law in the country forever.
Hashmi said that Raza Rabbani was the best choice for Senate chairmanship again. He said that Nawaz Sharif's announcement for support to Mr Rabbani was a very good move. But it was unfortunate that the PPP leadership did not endorse the idea.
He said that the PPP got more seats in Senate as compared to its strength in assemblies, which is questionable.
He urged all political parties to elect a person as a Senate chairman who follow the traditions laid down by Raza Rabbani.
