LAHORE: A delegation of the mid-career service course of Pakistan Administrative Services (PAS) visited the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) to witness the working and operational structure of the provincial revenue collecting agency.
Chairman PRA Moazzam Iqbal Sipra briefed the delegation on the Authority’s organizational structure, departmental affairs and overall performance. He apprised the participants about the technical aspects and legal framework of Punjab sales tax on services and highlighted PRA’s role as the largest provincial institution responsible for revenue collection.He stated that during the current financial year, offices are being established in 26 districts at the divisional level, which will significantly strengthen field operations. The Chairman PRA further informed the guests that the strength of enforcement teams is being doubled, which will lead to improved performance and better achievement of revenue targets. He emphasized that achieving provincial revenue targets would not have been possible without extensive digitalization and administrative reforms.
Members of the delegation appreciated the digital and administrative reforms introduced by PRA and termed them a positive step towards efficient service delivery. The delegation also stressed that awareness campaigns at all levels are essential for promoting tax culture and eliminating fake invoicing.
