Role of Communist Party of China praised: China has embarked on a new journey: CG

KARACHI: China’s economy achieved a 5 percent growth rate, with the total Gross Domestic Product reaching 140 trillion yuan (approximately 20 trillion US dollars), Chinese Consul General Yang Yungdong said while addressing a Chinese New Year Media Reception on Wednesday.

“The year 2025 marked the concluding year of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and was an extraordinary journey for China’s economic development,” he said, adding that despite a global economic slowdown, the surge of unilateralism and protectionism, and severe disruptions to the international economic and trade order, China’s economy achieved steady progress under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China.

Yang said that 2026 marks the inaugural year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, as China embarks on a new journey toward achieving socialist modernisation.

“We will continue to implement a more proactive fiscal policy and a moderately easy monetary policy to promote the effective improvement of economic quality and reasonable growth in quantity,” he said, adding that China remains committed to innovation-driven development, accelerating the cultivation of new kinetic energy, deepening the ‘AI Plus’ initiative, and improving AI governance.

He further said China will continue opening-up by “promoting multi-domain win-win cooperation and advancing the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative,” while pushing forward a comprehensive green transition guided by the “Dual Carbon” goals.

Highlighting bilateral ties, Mr Yang said it was heartening to see that the “ironclad friendship between China and Pakistan has become even more refined and resilient, reaching new heights.”

He said practical cooperation between China and the two provinces in the consular district — Sindh and Balochistan has made steady progress and achieved new milestones.

“These accomplishments are a testament to the strategic guidance of our leaders, the concerted efforts of our two peoples, and the consistent attention and support from our friends from the media,” he said.

Praising the role of journalists, Mr Yang said media professionals have built a bridge of mutual understanding and affinity between our two peoples and serve as a “mirror reflecting the robust development of our bilateral relations.”

“Through your lenses, we have witnessed how high-level exchanges continue to consolidate our strategic mutual trust, how mutual support safeguards our respective core interests, how practical cooperation drives our common development, and how close interactions deepen the ironclad friendship between our nations,” he said.

He added that journalists have been “active communicators of Chinese modernization,” introducing China’s achievements in new infrastructure, artificial intelligence, semiconductors and agriculture to the Pakistani people, and playing a vital role in enhancing mutual recognition and exploring new avenues for practical cooperation.

Yang said media friends have also acted as envoys for bilateral friendship through visits to China, adding that these exchanges have strengthened their resolve to be practitioners and promoters of China-Pakistan friendship.

Calling the media a valuable partner, he said journalists have offered valuable advice and suggestions for the growth of China-Pakistan relations, acting as a ‘think tank’ for our Consulate General.

“Journalism is the first rough draft of history,” Mr Yang said, adding that as the construction of the China-Pakistan Community with a Shared Future and the CPEC proceeds, media attention and coverage are more vital than ever.

Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jamili, Secretary Aslam Khan, and senior journalist Saeed Sarbazi were also present on the occasion.
