LAHORE: For the first time in Punjab’s history, major development projects are being launched in backward and smaller districts, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, said.
During a meeting with a delegation of members of the National and Provincial Assemblies from Mianwali, the CM said, “We will further accelerate the journey of public service.”
She said that the Suthra Punjab Programme is being developed into the world’s largest waste management initiative.
The delegation discussed the country’s political situation, law and order, and ongoing development projects in the province.
The delegation, comprising Ali Haider Noor Khan, Ubaidullah Shadi Khel, Amanatullah Shadi Khel, Adil Abdullah Rokhri, Malik Feroz Joyia and Sajjad Bhachar, appreciated the chief minister for introducing the honorarium card for mosque imams and for launching Punjab’s first electric bus service in Mianwali.
They also lauded the provision of free medicines in government hospitals across the province, terming it a major relief for the public.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said patients from Mianwali suffering from cardiac ailments would now benefit from services at the Sargodha Institute of Cardiology.
Members of the delegation said the launch of the electric bus service in Mianwali was “nothing short of a miracle” for the local population. They added that the beautification drive and the Suthra Punjab project had brought a visible improvement to the city’s outlook and cleanliness.
