ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its relations with Myanmar, emphasising the two nations’ ongoing efforts to enhance diplomatic and bilateral relations.
Talking to Myanmar’s Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, U Than Swe, who is on a four-day official visit to Pakistan, Sharif emphasised the importance of expanding cooperation in key areas, including trade, economic development, education, culture, capacity-building, and people-to-people exchanges.
The prime minister also commended Myanmar for its cooperation in addressing trafficking and for supporting Pakistan’s engagement with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Minister Swe, in turn, thanked Sharif for the warm reception extended to him and his delegation, conveying the greetings and best wishes of Myanmar’s leadership.
He reaffirmed Myanmar’s desire to enhance relations with Pakistan in areas of mutual interest.
The delegation also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s timely support following the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28th March 2025.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other senior officials.
