Parliament House: Dr Komal Lalwani appointed to oversee healthcare of lawmakers

ISLAMABAD: In a landmark move that underscores both professional excellence and inclusive representation, the federal government has appointed Dr Komal Lalwani, a young Hindu doctor from rural Sindh, to oversee the healthcare of lawmakers at Parliament House.

Dr Lalwani, who completed her MBBS at a medical college in interior Sindh, succeeds Dr Meena Mahak, who was recently promoted and transferred to a hospital in Karachi.

Officials in Parliament House confirmed that appointments to this role follow a rigorous selection process, with candidates assessed on their professional qualifications from the Federal Government Services Hospital (FGSH) in Islamabad.

The appointment has been hailed as a significant step towards enhancing the representation of minority women in federal institutions, while also reinforcing the government’s commitment to diversity within the health sector.
