LAHORE: The Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) on Wednesday announced an extension in the deadline for submitting applications under the Chief Minister Punjab’s Green Tractor Programme until January 25, 2026.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting held in Lahore under the chairmanship of Punjab Minister for Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Karmani.
Karmani informed the meeting that more than 300,000 applications have been received under Phase-III of the Chief Minister Punjab Green Tractor Programme. He added that highly encouraging results are being observed from the field activities of agricultural graduate interns who are playing a key role in farmer guidance and the adoption of modern agricultural practices.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Special Secretary Agriculture Agha Nabeel Akhtar, Deputy Secretary Agriculture (Planning) Kashif Bashir, Directors General Agriculture Chaudhry Abdul Hameed, Naveed Asmat Kahloon and Rana Tajammal Hussain, Engineer Zahid Mushtaq Mir, along with representatives of the Bank of Punjab and other senior officers.
Briefing the meeting, the agriculture minister said that recovery under Phase-II of the Kissan Card Programme has exceeded 98 percent and the target of 100 percent recovery is expected to be achieved by February 15, 2026. He described the ongoing phase of the Kissan Card Programme as a major milestone, noting that interest-free loans amounting to Rs 100 billion have so far been disbursed, benefiting over 731,000 farmers across the province.
The minister directed officials to establish Kissan Card Facilitation Centres in all districts to ensure maximum service delivery to farmers at their doorsteps. He also termed the Chief Minister Punjab high-tech farm mechanization financing programme a unique and transformative initiative aimed at promoting the use of modern agricultural machinery in the province.
The minister further disclosed that 1,000 laser land levellers are being distributed among farmers through balloting at a 60 percent subsidy. He said during the current year, seven labs-on-wheels for soil and water analysis are being established with plans to extend their coverage to all districts. Similarly, mobile pest clinics have been activated in 65 tehsils and will be expanded to all tehsils in phases. He emphasized the Punjab government is deploying all available resources to modernize the agricultural sector and ensure sustainable growth and prosperity for farmers through comprehensive, farmer-friendly policies.
