ISLAMABAD: On the heels of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi’s visits to Punjab and Sindh ahead of the protest movement announced by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on the coming 8th February, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has held meetings with KP lawmakers and other politicians mainly from the ruling side at the Centre, and has constituted a committee to review federal development projects in the province.

In this context, the PM on Saturday held a meeting with a delegation comprising of the lawmakers and other politicians, mainly from Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), who belong to KP.

The PM formed a committee under the leadership of Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal that would visit Peshawar and review progress on federal development projects in the province, said an official statement issued after the meeting.

Conspicuously, the development surfaces at a time when the CM KP has launched his mass mobilisation campaign ahead of the PTI’s protest campaign.

Recently, he visited Punjab, and is presently in Sindh as part of the mobilisation campaign. In both the provinces, people in big numbers welcomed Afridi, a development that is said to have alarmed the ruling lot, especially at the Centre.

The PM urged the public representatives to address people’s problems on priority basis, the statement added.

He mentioned his recent visit to Haripur where laptops were distributed among students from all over the province, according to the statement.

The PM said laptop distribution among students will continue on merit to enable them equip themselves with the latest skills, said the statement.
