RAWALPINDI: The jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan on Friday appeared before Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in compliance with arrest warrants issued in connection with November 26 case registered against her and others.
Aleema Khan appeared before ATC along with her legal team in compliance with the arrest warrants issued on January 7 after the court dismissed her exemption application. Due to non-availability of ATC judge Amjad Ali, hearing of the case adjourned without any proceedings till January 12.
Talking to reporters outside the court, after appearing before the court, Aleema Khan said that arrest warrants were issued on January 7 but honourable judge was on leave when she appeared.
“We had requested time until Monday, but our request was turned down. Today I appeared before the court, yet the hearing was adjourned,” she stated.
She added “we will go to Adiala Jail on scheduled visitation day on Tuesday, claiming PTI founder is being kept in solitary confinement and we have no information about his condition.”
“The government is not willing to comply with court orders, and we have no forum left where we can present our case,” Aleema said.
She alleged that hearings in the cases of Bushra Bibi and the PTI founder are being deliberately delayed so that bail is not granted.
Referring to Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s and PTI call for protest on February 8, she said, “We will shut down the entire Pakistan and will not let the country fully function.”
Khan’s sister further said that Quran Khawani would be held outside Adiala Jail on next Tuesday, adding that prayers would also be offered.
She praised the Sindh government for not blocking roads like Punjab during the visit of Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi. “Sindh government is very sensible,” she remarked.
