86% Pakistanis optimistic about 2026; survey shows confidence in politics, careers, cricket

An overwhelming majority of Pakistanis are optimistic about 2026, with 86 % expressing a positive outlook for the year ahead, according to the latest survey findings released on Monday.

The Ipsos Predictions’ Survey 2026 shows that 63% of respondents expect political continuity in 2026, reflecting a relatively stable outlook on the country’s political landscape.

Digital habits are also set to evolve. While 84% of Pakistanis said they would prefer socialising online rather than face-to-face interactions, nearly half of the respondents, 49%, indicated plans to reduce their social media usage in the coming year.

Expectations around social change appear strong, with 70% of respondents anticipating a greater presence of women in leadership roles in 2026.

The findings also highlight a renewed focus on personal goals. About 75% of Pakistanis said they have set resolutions for 2026, a sharp increase from 50% who made resolutions for 2025. Of those who set goals last year, 60% reported achieving them.

Career advancement and financial stability emerged as the top priorities for the year ahead, with 43% of respondents citing career goals and 34% pointing to financial objectives, surpassing all other personal ambitions.

On the sporting front, optimism remains high, as 59% of respondents expect the Pakistan cricket team to perform better in 2026.

The survey also captured views on high-profile political developments, with 58% of respondents expecting former prime minister Imran Khan to remain in jail in 2026.

The survey did not disclose the sample size or fieldwork dates, but its findings offer insight into public sentiment as Pakistan enters the new year, highlighting optimism alongside shifting social, political, and personal expectations.
