KARACHI: The Democrats panel achieved a clean sweep for the 18th consecutive time in the Karachi Press Club elections for the year 2026.
Fazil Jameeli was elected president while Muhammad Aslam Khan secured the position of secretary.
The Election Committee Chairman Dr. Tauseef Ahmed Khan announced the results at the Karachi Press Club.
According to the results, Fazil Jameeli of the Democrats panel was elected president with 536 votes while Aslam Khan won the seat of secretary with 493 votes. Irshad Khokhar secured 480 votes to win the vice president’s post, Imran Ayub was elected treasurer with 622 votes and Farooq Sami won the position of joint secretary with 556 votes.
For the seven seats of the Governing Body, Abdul Jabbar Nasir, Akhtar Hussain Soomro, Sheema Siddiqui, Faryal Arif, Javed Saba, Syed Fareed Alam and Javed Mehr were declared successful.
Polling began at 9am and continued without any break until 5:30pm. The elections were contested among The Democrats Panel, Democrat Panel, Green Panel and independent candidates.
Out of 1,369 registered voters of the KPC, 1,011 exercised their right to vote.
