ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has extended warm Christmas greetings to the Christian community in Pakistan and across the world, describing the festival as a message of hope, peace and compassion.
In his message, the President said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah (RA) had guaranteed religious freedom for all citizens, adding that the Constitution of Pakistan ensures equal rights and full religious freedom to every individual.
President Zardari paid tribute to the valuable contributions of the Christian community to national development, noting their significant role in politics, defence, education and the health sector. He also acknowledged the historic services of S.P. Singha in support of Pakistan and paid homage to Cecil Chaudhry, the hero of the 1965 war.
The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting religious harmony and peaceful coexistence, stating that diversity is a source of national strength and unity.
President Zardari offered prayers for peace, good health and prosperity for the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas.
