KARACHI: Muhammad Saleem Baloch, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Public Health Engineering and Rural Development, has directed the immediate resolution of the issue of land acquisition for all new schemes.

The concerned Commissioner should also be contacted to resolve other issues, including land in the completion of development schemes.

He warned that action would be taken against the concerned XEN for zero utilisation of funds on the schemes.

The SACM issued these directives while presiding over a meeting of Shaheed Benazirabad Division to review the progress on new schemes. Secretary PHE & RD, Sohail Ahmed Qureshi, Additional Secretary Muhammad Bakhsh Jarwar, Chief Engineer Irshad Abbasi and concerned XENs also attended the meeting.

The meeting was briefed on the ongoing and old development schemes for the provision of clean drinking water and sanitation.

The SACM Muhammad Saleem Baloch directed that a new water supply scheme should be prepared from Naukot to Nangarparkar. He said the people of Mithi, Islamkot, Chilar and Naukot will be able to benefit from this new water supply scheme.

He directed that any scheme should be given a single contractor at the time of tender, instead of parts to different contractors. In case of any lapse, the single contractor could easily be held accountable.

He reassured that Sindh government is committed to providing facilities as per the promises made to the people. Therefore, negligence and slowness in public interest projects will not be acceptable.
