Statements against armed forces: Punjab PA seeks ban on political parties
LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly in its 36th session has approved a resolution with a majority vote to impose a ban on political parties that make statements against the Pakistani armed forces.
During the session, new bills related to five private universities were presented while bills concerning seven private universities were passed with a majority vote.
Questions asked regarding the Skills Development Department were called for answers during the session and were subsequently provided.
The 36th session of the Punjab Assembly commenced one hour and twenty-nine minutes behind schedule under the chairmanship of Panel of Chair Samiullah Khan. At the beginning of the session, due to the absence of the Parliamentary Secretary, the question hour related to the Skills Development Department was postponed, and subsequently five new bills concerning private universities were presented in the house. During the same session, bills related to seven private universities were approved with a majority vote.
Answers to questions related to the Skills Development Department were provided in detail by Parliamentary Secretary Saqib Khan Chaudhry. During the session, Member of the Assembly Tahir Pervaiz presented a resolution to impose a ban on political parties that make statements against the Pakistani armed forces, which was passed with a majority vote. Additionally, a resolution by Sarah Ahmed congratulating Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on his appointment as the first Chief of Defence Staff, along with several other resolutions, were also approved with a majority vote.
After the completion of the agenda, Panel of Chair Zulfiqar Ali Shah adjourned the Punjab Assembly session for an indefinite period.
