PESHAWAR: A meeting of the Honorary Consuls Corps, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chapter was held at the 18 Club House, Islamabad on Tuesday with Barrister Assad Saifullah Khan, Dean of the Honorary Consuls Corps and Honorary Consul General of the Czech Republic for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the chair.

The meeting brought together prominent honorary consuls and distinguished leaders to discuss strategies for promoting tourism, cultural activities, and security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a particular focus on Peshawar. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Mansour, Ammad Rasheed, Afan Aziz, Asad Saleem, Salim Saifullah Khan, Said Mahmood, Nawabzada Fazal Karim Afridi, Faisal Saleem Rehman, Muhammad Arsallah Khan, Amer Faruque, Asad Ansari, Masood Ahmad Qazi, and Umar Farooq.

During the discussions, participants emphasized the promotion of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s cultural heritage and tourism potential, highlighting initiatives to attract both domestic and international visitors. The meeting also addressed security challenges in Peshawar and across the province, particularly the restrictions faced by foreign missions and ambassadors. Participants expressed concern regarding the planned closure of certain foreign embassies, including Finland, and highlighted the need for active engagement by KP authorities and the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan to ensure that Peshawar is accessible and perceived as a safe and welcoming destination for international dignitaries.

Barrister Assad Saifullah Khan stressed that establishing a peaceful and secure environment is essential for the growth of tourism, cultural initiatives, and economic activities in the province. He emphasized the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to facilitate diplomatic engagement and support sustainable development across KP.

The meeting concluded with a unified commitment from all participants to promote Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a secure, culturally vibrant, and attractive destination, reinforcing the province’s potential on both national and international platforms.
