Lahore airport expansion to be completed by September 2026, says PAA

Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said on Sunday that major projects to enhance aviation infrastructure and passenger facilities are progressing across the country.
The expansion of Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport terminal is scheduled for completion by September 2026, while the runway upgrade at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport is expected to be finished by January 2026.
PAA added that flight procedures under the RNP-AR system will be implemented at Skardu, Gilgit, and Chitral airports by June 2026, which is expected to significantly reduce flight delays and cancellations caused by weather conditions.
Airspace ban for Indian aircrafts extended
New greenfield airports are in the planning phase in Dera Ismail Khan, Sukkur, and Faisalabad, while the phase-two upgrade of Skardu Airport and Mandi Bahauddin General Aviation Aerodrome is set to begin next year.
At Karachi Airport, final sites have been approved for a new air traffic control tower and rescue-fire station, which will further strengthen air traffic management and safety.
PAA said these initiatives aim to make Pakistan’s aviation sector safer, more efficient, and accessible, providing modern facilities for passengers nationwide.
