KARACHI: Pakistan has extended its airspace restrictions on Indian-registered aircrafts till late December.
According to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) on Wednesday, all Indian-registered aircraft and those operated, owned, or leased by Indian airlines and operators are prohibited entering into Pakistani airspace.
The restrictions will remain in place until December 23 at 2359 UTC.
The ban encompasses all altitudes from ground level to unlimited height and applies to a broad area of Pakistani airspace, including the Karachi and Lahore flight information regions. Military flights are also explicitly included in the prohibition.
This NOTAM replaces an earlier restriction (A0684/25), continuing of existing policies.
The restrictions has so far cost millions of dollars as Indian airlines are compelled to use alternative routing, typically adding flight time and fuel costs to journeys between India and destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
