ISLAMABAD: A local court on Saturday granted bail to Mohammed Abuzar Rakhi, the son of Justice Muhammad Asif of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), who allegedly hit and killed two young women within the jurisdiction of the Secretariat Police Station.
Judicial Magistrate Shaista Khan Kundi, while hearing the case, granted bail to Abuzar Rakhi after the court was informed that a reconciliation had been reached between the accused and the families of the victims, Samreen Hussain and Tabinda Batool.
The two women were returning from the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) when their scooter was hit by the accused’s vehicle. The affected families have formally pardoned the judge’s son.
During the hearing, the victims’ families recorded their statements confirming the settlement. Following their statements, the court approved the bail and ordered that Abuzar Rakhi be released.
In the case of one of the victims, her brother appeared in court to record his statement, while her mother provided her statement online. The father of the second victim also appeared in court and recorded his statement.
