ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday made it clear that their jailed party founder was the only true voice of 250 million Pakistanis and only unifying force in the country at present.

In a strongly-worded statement, PTI spokesman Sheikh Waqas Akram criticised the statement of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) terming it baseless, fabricated and politically motivated.

He said that ‘inflammatory and derogatory’ language used was unfortunate and unbefitting of the spokesperson of an institution that commands immense respect and admiration from the people of Pakistan.

He stated that while the Pakistan Army is a prestigious national institution, the tone adopted and the remarks made against the national leader and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi, as well as, the inappropriate references to Pashtuns, did not reflect the dignity and decorum expected from such an esteemed establishment.

Akram said that Imran Khan is the only national leader whose party had over 90 MNAs, around two dozen senators, and more than 100 MPAs in Punjab, with a visible presence in both Sindh and Balochistan.

He lamented that Pakistan is currently grappling with myriad problems as corrupt power elites have repeatedly been unlawfully imposed on the nation, enriching only themselves at the expense of the people and the country.

Akram stated that an ‘undisputed hero’ was being subjected to a political vendetta because the nation rejected elements perceived him as a real threat to their political future and their business of loot and plunder.

He asserted that the biggest tragedy of Pakistan today is that the media is neither willing to listen to PTI’s viewpoint nor allowed to air it, silencing PTI, distorting its narrative, and promoting a one-sided storyline is a deliberate and malicious strategy.

He reiterated that PTI and Imran Khan have always honoured the sacrifices of Pakistan’s soldiers and martyrs. “Imran Khan is the only national leader who has vigorously defended Pakistan’s narrative, its Army, and its identity at the international level. Labelling him as anti-Army is not just absurd - it is a mockery of logic,” he added.

Akram warned that using politically charged language and exploiting the Army’s spokesperson to target opponents would further pollute the political environment and undermine the institution.

He emphasised that PTI’s narrative has never been anti-state, noting that Imran Khan sacrificed his comforts to build an independent Pakistan, uphold constitutional supremacy, ensure judicial independence, accountability, true democracy, and realize the Pakistan envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam.
