LAHORE: A delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)’s consultant, Gyros Corporation, and contractor, Tec International, visited Faisalabad International Airport (FIAP) as part of the ‘Project for Improvement of Airport Security-Phase II’.

According to the Pakistan Airports Authority on Monday, the visit focused on soil testing related to the planned up-gradation of the Baggage Handling System (BHS) to Level-3 (BHS) in the International Briefing Area. The Level-3 BHS systems are equipped with state-of-the-art CT scanners/trace detectors.

Soil testing was conducted in the presence of the relevant sectional heads of FIAP to assess requirements for the installation of the new system. The visiting team also handed over two CCTV cameras for integration and testing with the existing security surveillance infrastructure. Following the field activities, the delegation met the Chief Operating Officer/Airport Manager (COO/APM) and discussed the roadmap for the commencement of construction work. The COO/APM assured full support and highlighted important considerations, including the winter schedule during the construction phase. She directed all sectional heads to ensure smooth passenger security screening during the installation of the upgraded system.
