PESHAWAR: Advisor to KP CM on Finance, Muzzammil Aslam, has strongly criticized the federal government for overlooking Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in distribution of development funds.

He said Rs 43 billion worth of development projects have been approved solely for Punjab and Sindh, while completely ignoring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that it is shameful that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s share is less than Balochistan’s share.

Muzzammil Aslam added that, according to the available information, Punjab governed by the PML-N — will receive the lion’s share of Rs 23.5 billion, amounting to 54.5 percent of the total allocation. Rs 17.6 billion will be spent through the Punjab government, whereas the federal government will spend Rs 5.9 billion on electricity supply projects in rural areas of Punjab. As per the decision, another Rs 400 million will be spent through the Defence Division.

He added that Members of the National Assembly from Sindh will receive Rs 15.3 billion, of which Rs 10.3 billion will be spent through the Sindh government and the remaining Rs 4.3 billion through the Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company. Muzzammil Aslam said that interestingly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will receive only Rs 1.3 billion, and its funds will be spent directly through PIDC and WAPDA. Meanwhile, the Balochistan government will get Rs 2.3 billion and Islamabad Rs 750 million.
