ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces on Wednesday neutralised 22 terrorists belonging to the Indian-sponsored group Fitna al Khwarij during an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Thursday, the operation was launched on confirmed reports of militant presence in the area.
Security forces engaged the terrorists in an intense exchange of fire, resulting in the elimination of twenty-two Khwarij members involved in destabilisation efforts and violence inside Pakistan.
Following the clearance, a sanitisation operation is underway to track and eliminate any remaining militants linked to the network.
The ISPR said the action is part of Pakistan’s relentless counter-terrorism drive under “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. The campaign aims to uproot all forms of foreign-backed terrorism and dismantle hostile networks operating against the state.
