Security forces, LEAs kill eight terrorists in Bannu operation: ISPR

  • President Zardari, PM Shehbaz pays tribute to security forces for successful operation
Published Updated

Security forces and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have killed eight terrorists in a joint intelligence based operation in Bannu district, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the armed forces engaged location of the Khwarij on Friday. “After an intense fire exchange, eight Khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy Fitna Al Khwarij were sent to hell,” the ISPR said.

The ISPR said weapons and ammunition were also recovered from killed Indian sponsored Khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces, law enforcement agencies and target killing of innocent civilians.

“The operation underscores the strengthened collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and security forces, who have significantly intensified intelligence-driven operations in the region. These meticulously coordinated and synchronised security measures are designed to constrict the operational mobility of Khwarij elements, systematically dismantle their facilitation networks, and curtail their capacity to reorganise.

“Operations are producing substantial and measurable success with continuous efforts to achieve more peace and stability,” it said.

The military’s media wing said sanitisation operation was being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist, if found, in the area. “The relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision “Azm-e-Istehkam” (as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” it maintained.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces and law-enforcement agencies for the successful joint intelligence operation against the terrorists.

The president saluted the courage and resolve of the personnel for eliminating eight Indian-backed militants.

“Coordinated actions against the Khawarij are further strengthening national security,” he said.

President Zardari said that dismantling the networks of organised terrorists backed by India remained a top national priority.

He added that completely eradicating foreign-sponsored terrorists from the homeland was essential for the country’s survival.

PM Shehbaz also appreciated the security forces for killing terrorists during the operation.

He said the security forces were achieving major successes against terrorism under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam.

“The entire nation stands with Pakistan’s armed forces in this war against terrorism,” the prime minister stated.

He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to completely eliminate all forms of terrorism from the country.
