Vegetables, fruits: Significant reduction in prices witnessed in Lahore
LAHORE: The Lahore district administration has reported a significant reduction in the prices of vegetables and fruits in the provincial capital.
On Monday, the administration stated that they have intensified efforts to enforce price controls and provide relief to the public. Assistant Commissioners, PEERA, and Price Magistrates are actively monitoring markets throughout Lahore, conducting price surveillance.
Recent reports indicated that the price of grapes has notably decreased by Rs 25 per kg, now available at Rs 590 per kg, down from Rs 615 per kg. Similarly, guava prices have dropped by Rs 5 per kg, falling from Rs 195 to Rs 190 per kg.
In addition to these reductions, the prices of other necessities, including potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and green chillies, have remained stable over the past 48 hours. The prices of bananas, apples, and dates have also shown stability, reflecting the effective system implemented by the administration.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore, Syed Musa Raza, commented on the situation, stating that he has issued clear instructions to officials to ensure the enforcement of official rates in markets across Lahore.
He emphasised that no leniency will be extended to those involved in illegal profiteering.
“Profiteers and hoarders will face severe consequences, and cases will be filed against habitual offenders. The Lahore District Administration is also continuously monitoring the availability of essential commodities to protect citizens’ rights,” he added.
