LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has left for Brazil from Lahore to attend the COP 30 conference being held in Belém.
During the conference, the chief minister will brief participants about flagship projects including initiatives for a Clean Punjab, e-mobility, and wildlife reforms in the province.
She will also highlight the efforts of the Punjab government in climate-resilient regional leadership.
It may be noted that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif last month inaugurated the new sanitation fleet for all districts under largest solid waste management initiative, the “Suthra Punjab” Programme. The initiative aimed at ensuring cleanliness and environmental sustainability across all districts of Punjab, serving a population of over 150 million.
The new sanitation fleet is comprised 700 state-of-the-art waste management vehicles and machines. The new fleet marks a major leap in modernizing waste collection and disposal services throughout Punjab.
It may be recalled that the “Suthra Punjab” workforce, comprising 150,000 members, is the largest of its kind. Every district now owns its sanitation machinery and no longer needs to borrow from others. Cleanliness has reached not just cities but also villages, which were long neglected.
The CM Maryam Nawaz said, “Education, health, cleanliness, roads, and transport are the basic rights of our people, and I am working with sincerity and dedication to deliver them on priority.”
