LONDON: British pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca on Thursday said its net profit jumped 77 percent in the third quarter as the group expands its operations in the United States.

Profit after tax stood at $2.53 billion in the three months to the end of September, up from $1.43 billion one year earlier, AstraZeneca said in a statement.
