KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan’s Banking Service Corporation (SBP BSC) and UN Women Pakistan have entered into a strategic partnership to advance financial inclusion, literacy, and access to finance, with a strong emphasis on women’s empowerment.

The two organisations formalised the collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at a ceremony in Karachi, attended by Maraj Mahmood, Managing Director of SBP BSC, and Jamshed Kazi, Country Representative of UN Women Pakistan. The agreement aims to foster long-term cooperation to create an enabling environment for women’s economic participation across the country.

Speaking at the event, Jamshed Kazi highlighted the role of inclusive financial systems in promoting gender equality. He noted that the partnership with SBP would help women gain access to financial services, build economic resilience, and contribute to sustainable growth.

Maraj Mahmood emphasised SBP’s commitment to enhancing women’s participation in the financial sector. He said the collaboration with UN Women reflects the central bank’s vision to expand financial literacy and access to finance for underserved groups, particularly women, while promoting innovative solutions for inclusive economic development.
