“So bravado aside…”
“Stop right there.”
“I am not…”
“Whatever you planned to do, stop right there, my friend. Bravado never ever serves anyone well.”
“How about bravery?”
“That’s a tough one. By bravery, do you mean physical courage? That brings to mind Mark Twain’s observations that it is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world and moral courage so rare.”
“A non-military guy…”
“There aren’t more than a handful of our parliamentarians who ever served in the armed forces, and that too when there was a war ongoing and…”
“The Big Three haven’t OK but…”
“The Big Three portfolio holders you mean – Finance, Interior and Foreign Affairs?”
“I am going to ignore that comment. Anyway, Colin Powell who was a general stated, don’t be afraid to challenge the pros, even in their own backyard.”
“He was a general and a statesman, and the subject is closed now.”
“OK, Nelson Mandela said that he learned that courage was not the absence of fear but the triumph over it. The brave man is not who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers it.”
“And how many years did he spend in jail?”
“Not quite sure but around 27 or 28 years.”
“And to reach that conclusion are you willing to spend that much time…”
“Don’t be facetious.”
“I am serious.”
