The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has issued a legal notice to an individual named Tariq Pervez for the unauthorised use of the title “Pakistan” by an unrecognised body styling itself as the “Pakistan Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation,” the board’s spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the PSB, the entity in question is neither affiliated with nor recognised by the board, yet it has been using the country’s name in its official title, promotional content, and social media platforms, a move that the board says constitutes a serious violation of its constitution and national laws.

In a statement, the PSB said the usage of the title “Pakistan” by an unregistered and unofficial organisation misleads athletes, sponsors, public institutions, and the general public.

It warned that such misrepresentation could create confusion about the entity’s legal status and undermine the integrity of the country’s sports governance framework.

“The Pakistan Sports Board is the only competent authority in the country to register and recognise national sports federations,” the spokesperson stated.

“No organisation is permitted to use the name ‘Pakistan’ or present itself as a national federation without the board’s formal approval.”

The PSB has directed the group to immediately cease using the title “Pakistan” in all forms, including signboards, websites, promotional materials, and social media, and to remove any content that implies official status or government affiliation.

It has also ordered the submission of a written explanation and compliance confirmation within seven days of receiving the notice.

Failure to comply, the PSB warned, may result in legal and administrative action.

The board said it is prepared to escalate the matter by approaching the courts, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for regulatory intervention.

The board emphasised the urgency of the matter and reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity and structure of national sports governance in Pakistan.
